han·gry /haNGɡrē/ adjective informal bad-tempered or irritable as a result of hunger. "I get very hangry if I miss a meal"
From USA Today bestselling author Lily Kate comes a brand new series...
Ladies & Gents,
I sold my soul for a
hamburger
.
And I have no regrets. When a girl is trapped indefinitely in an elevator with a smoking hot burger and an empty stomach, even the strongest of women will crumble.
The story goes like this: Bradley Hamilton, former professional hockey player and the most frustrating human alive, offered me half of his hamburger in exchange for a date. I took him up on the offer—while under duress—and now I’m stuck with the consequences. Specifically, the scorching kiss that has me drooling for more.
However, there’s one whopper of a problem. This man has been a thorn in my side for the last twenty years—ever since he moved next door and became my older brother’s best friend. We’ve gone head to head for years, and now, he’s trying to buy out my restaurant in order to plop one of his big fat gyms there instead.
I refuse to let him ruin my business. Unfortunately, Bradley Hamilton is like an order of french fries: you just can’t have one. It appears our lips are addicted to kissing. He’s alarmingly handsome. Deliciously confident. And worst of all? Underneath that salty exterior he’s starting to show signs of sweet.
Brad Hamilton is my guilty pleasure, my cheat meal, my greatest craving.
Which is why he’ll be one habit that’s hard to kick.

REVIEW

We’ve all been there, right? That moment where rational thought leaves us abandoned with absurd behavior and diarrhea of the mouth? We call it being “Hangry”. I too am a victim. Welcome to the club.

Lexi Monroe is no stranger to being a victim of hangriness. It’s in the moment of being trapped in an elevator with her ex-best friend, ex eye of her affection, that her brain and her mouth become detached from one another. Bradley Hamilton and her were best friends, something that could’ve been more, but Lexi decided would never be.

To say I have unresolved feelings for Bradley Hamilton would be an understatement.

They haven’t spoken to one another, despite being neighbors, for 3 years.

Three. Long. Years.

During those 3 years Lexi’s feelings turned from disappointment to slight anger. Brad’s only turned more forlorn.

Bradley, to my surprise, doesn’t look at all distraught that the elevator is firmly planted between floors.

Brad has found his chance, the opportunity to finally make amends between him and Lexi. But Lexi’s hanger takes over, and in her fit of muddled thinking, agreed to the unthinkable….a date.

I’m floored. Flabbergasted, maybe. I’d expected many things, but I’d not expected a date to be laid on the table. If I’d had to guess, I would’ve expected him to make me wash his car, clean his apartment, or deliver him food for a month. Anything but a date.

One of the reasons I enjoy reading Lily’s books is because the characters are truly adorable, innocent and sweet. This is no different for Lexi and Brad. Their friendship starts to blossom once again, but this time Lexi is ready for the next step. She actually wants that date, needs it, because it’s what she’s always been wanting from him.

The best part of a second chance romance is getting a glimpse of the first chance. I really feel like starting this book off with a flashback to when these two first met, or even their PROM night would’ve been a great way to open up their story. Flashbacks help us connect with what the characters went through, where they came from. I feel like if Lily would’ve added a little more insight to their past this way, I would’ve been able to connect better with these two.

My absolute favorite part of this book is their first date. Truly romantic and gives you all the feels!

This isn’t our first date. Maybe on paper it is, but without knowing it, I’ve had my sights set on you our whole life.

Ahh, the good stuff, right?

I was excited to see an element of suspense in this one. I was expecting it, but would’ve enjoyed a little more detail, or plotting to solidify the story. I really enjoyed how everything fell into place though.

Overall, I would say that this is my second favorite book of Lily’s, behind Delivery Girl . I really hope that we get to see books for Sasha and Kitty. I would love to see Lexi’s brother try to tame Kitty into domestication!
