"Show Me the Way is one of my favorite reads of 2017. This book is absolutely perfect.” - Corinne Michaels, New York Times Bestselling Author
The first sexy, captivating, stand-alone novel in the brand-new FIGHT FOR ME series from NYT & USA Today Bestselling Author A.L. Jackson . . .
Rex Gunner. As bitter as he is beautiful.
The owner of the largest construction company in Gingham Lakes has been burned one too many times. His wife leaving him to raise their daughter was the last blow this single dad could take. The only woman he’ll let into his heart is his little girl.
Rynna Dayne. As vulnerable as she is tempting.
She ran from Gingham Lakes when she was seventeen. She swore to herself she would never return. Then her grandmother passed away and left her the deed to the diner that she once loved.
When Rex meets his new neighbor, he knows he’s in trouble.
She’s gorgeous and sweet and everything he can’t trust.
Until she becomes the one thing he can’t resist.
One kiss sends them tumbling toward ecstasy.
But in a town this size, pasts are bound to collide. Caught in a web of lies, betrayal, and disloyalty, Rex must make a choice.
Will he hide behind his walls or will he take the chance . . .
“All moments matter. We just rarely know how important they are until the chance to act on them has already passed.”
I loved this book to pieces. AL Jackson is such a beautiful writer, her stories are always so beautiful, complicated and full of feels. This one is no different, it kept me hooked the entire time, from beginning to end. It was just great!
“He needed someone to revive his faith just as desperately as I did. Because looking at him? I suddenly knew he had none of it. That something had gone dim inside him. That was the thing about chances. We didn’t know their outcomes. If we’d succeed or if we’d fail. It didn’t matter. I had to take a chance on him.”
As the blurb states, Rex Gunner is a beautiful bitter man. By the time we meet him, he’s been burned one too many times, he’s gone through some serious losses. His wife left him to raise their daughter. However, he’s a wonderful dad. I completely enjoyed that part of the story, little Frankie was the sweetest. Immediately after he meets Rynna, he starts questioning everything in his like.
“You make me feel like every chance is one worth taking. Like you’re leading me out of the darkness that’s ruled my life. When I close my eyes, who I see is you. Show me the way, Rynna. Show me the way out of it. Fuck. Please, show me the way.”
And Rynna Dayne. Let me tell you about Rynna, she was amazing! She had been broken in the past, practically had been ran out of town. When her grandma passed away, she was left with the mission to restore her legacy and had to come back to town. I loved Rynna, as a heroine she was a dream come true, strong, healed, sweet…ahhh I just loved her! To me she was the star of this book.
“And Rex. He fell with me. Exactly where he’d always belonged.”
I loved how their relationship developed. I loved watching all of Rex’s walls crumble and he truly becoming who he could be. And I especially loved both Rex’s and Rynna’s relationship with Frankie! This book was so full of love!
“It is magic, Rynna. Frankie’s here. You’re here. We’re together. And that’s all that matters.”
The story in this book was fantastic, the balance was great, I felt like it had the right amount of angst, the right amount of romance and the right amount of intrigue to keep me guessing the entire time. I also really liked the pacing, everything was so well timed.
“I’d been terrified of falling in love. Of losing someone else. Knowing there was no place inside me left to lose. Those vacancies went too deep. But Rynna. She filled them. Saved my world and gave me back my heart. Rynna. Fucking Rynna. Little Thief.”
So overall, I loved everything about this story. And btw, there’s two epilogues!!! Two!!! It’s like the author knows me personally or something, lol. I can’t freaking wait to read more books in this series. I hope next book is about one of Rex’s buddies. Absolutely recommend!
“I knew the moment I met you that you were different. I fought it and fought it while you just continued to fight for me. To fight for us. But every time our paths crossed, I knew my life changed a little more. Truth is, I was terrified to take the chance. But like you said, it’s all about taking the right ones.”
