Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.
Lies. Words destroyed me.
“I’m sorry. She didn’t make it.”
“Daddy, he can’t breathe!”
“There’s nothing more we can do for your son.”

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.
More lies.
Those syllables and letters became my executioner.
I told myself that, if I didn’t acknowledge the pain and the fear, they would have no power over me.
But, as the years passed, the hate and the anger left behind began to control me.
Two words—that was all it took to plunge my life into darkness.
“He’s gone.”
In the end, it was four soft, silky words that gave me hope of another sunrise.
“Hi. I’m Charlotte Mills.”

REVIEW

*** NOT ENOUGH STARS IN THE WORLD***

“But, damn it, Charlotte, we will find a way to make this work. This is my life. This is your life. This is his life. And her life. This is our life and you know it. We’ll figure out the details later, but for now, all I need from you is a promise that we are going to do this. No matter what. We’re in this together”

I don’t even know where to start. I don’t even know what to say. This book, man! Just perfect! Amazing, all the stars, all the freaking feels! As soon as I got this in my kindle, I devoured it. Just couldn’t stop until I was done. It’s that good!

I don’t think words will do it justice. This is hand down one of the best I’ve read. This entire duet is perfection. Aly has done it again! Completely hooked, completely captivated, this story is unlike anything I’ve ever read. These two main characters were amazing. Charlotte and her strength and Porter with his love and resilience. They truly went through the darkness and finally stepped into the light together. And what a ride it was!

The thing is I can’t talk about it anymore, AT ALL! Can’t say too much, can’t spoil anything. You need to read The Darkest Sunrise and then immediately jump into this one. And please go in blind, you will appreciate this! Absolutely amazing! Trust me, you need these 2 books in your life!

I’m so honored to have been able to read this one early. It’s definitely one of the things that make this blogging thing worth it.

I can’t freaking wait for whatever Aly will bring next!

“When I broke, Porter was there to pick up the pieces. And, when Porter lost sight of the light, I was there to hold him in the darkness.

No questions.
No judgements.
No faking it.
No apologies.

Our lives were far from perfect, but the fact that we were living and not standing still as the world turned beneath our feet made it perfect to us.”
