Life is made up of moments. If you’re not in one, then you’re not living.

Cadence Fletcher wants to start a new chapter in her life. The problem is, the nightmare she’s been living for the past two years has stripped away her identity, leaving behind only a shell of who she used to be. Until one night. One random meeting. And one moment, brought her heart, soul, and body back to life.

From the very first moment he saw her, Luken Schaffer couldn’t get Cadence out of his mind. He wanted her. He needed her. And wasn’t going to back down until he got her.

But when Luken reveals a family secret, Cadence is torn between living the life she always dreamed of, and sacrificing it all, so that Luken has a chance at the future he deserves.

REVIEW

“Life is made up of moments. If you’re not in one, you’re not living.”

This was a short, fast read and I enjoyed it thoroughly. This is a May to December story with a remarkable heroine that has been through a lot and a hot, young and super swoony hero. It has a great message that nothing in life should be taken for granted and that you should always live life to the maximum cause you truly don’t know what the future holds.

Cadence is a 40 year old woman that has been through a lot in life. From the first moment we find out that she’s a cancer survivor that not only lost a lot through cancer but was also coming out of a 12 year relationship with the man she thought was her forever. To cheer her up, her best friend takes her out to drink and there she meets Luken. Luken is a gorgeous 25 year old man and he’s instantly smitten by Cadence. I loved him, he was a great hero, super charming and super persistent. He knew what he wanted and was not afraid of going for it.

After their encounter at the bar, which ends rather abruptly. Luken and Cadence find each other again in a situation where Candence can’t just refuse him. And from then on their story begins. There’s different things happening in this short novella. Cadence is obviously reluctant to believe that this young guy could really be interested in her. Also, because of the cancer, she doesn’t feel as confident as she was before.

“In that moment something inside me clicked. For the first time in two years, I didn’t feel like I had that giant C hovering above my head. When Luken looked at me, I didn’t feel like a patient or a survivor. I felt like a woman. A desired woman. And even though I knew this fantasy would come to an end soon, I wanted to squeeze every bit of life out of it.”

Luken is a great hero in the sense that he’s patient and reassuring when it comes to Cadence. He sees her for what she is, a beautiful, smart woman, and in turn it gives her the confidence she needs to give him a chance.

“You’re smart and funny and sweet. A little awkward. Beautiful. Hot. When I saw you at the end of the bar, I somehow felt you needed me and I knew I needed you. It doesn’t make sense, but that’s how it is.”

Luken also has his own family situation that I won’t spoil so as a couple they have to make some tough decisions. Overall, this was super sweet, hot and a fast read. I felt like the love was too insta for my like by it is a novella after all. Also, you know me, I need more, I needed an epilogue! So, if you’re in the mood for a quick read about a remarkable older woman and a swoony younger hero then this is the one you want to read!
