From New York Times Bestseller, Pepper Winters, comes a delicious sinful hero.
“I met the man I wanted. But then he vanished, and a new man claimed me instead. My father approved, my colleagues congratulated, and behind closed doors, I was bedded by a stranger.”
Noelle Charlston lives a fairy-tale life: a doting father, a powerful job, and a future blessed with financial security.
However, two meetings with two men changes her happy existence forever. First, she meets the man who makes her heart sing. Three years later, she meets the man who makes her blood quiver.
Broken-hearted from a teenage romance, Noelle’s freedom is no longer hers. It belongs to the stranger her father believes is her perfect match. The stranger who pulls his lies over everyone he touches.
Seduced and manipulated, Noelle gives into the mysterious Penn Everett. The lies he spins, the truth he hides, the mystery he weaves—it’s all enough to slowly erode the woman she is and turn her into something else.
Until her past collides with her present.
And it’s her turn to lie.
To everyone…including herself.

Pepper Winters is a new author for me, I’ve never read her until now and I’m blown away. There are a lot of things that draw people to the books that they choose whether it’s the blurb, a recommendation, a great review or just the simple fact that the cover is gorgeous. This book did all of that for me. Everything about it drew me in but it was definitely the cover first. As I scrolled through the email, I couldn’t stop staring at it, that’s when I knew I had to have it in my grabby hands. Icing on the cake was when I saw a favorite author of mine rave about it. Done deal.
I was legitimately hooked because of that prologue. HOOKED. I was flipping pages like a mad woman and as much as I wanted to fully absorb this book, I couldn’t get through the chapters fast enough because I needed to know all of the things. The characters are complex but developed with such ease and everything was just perfect. I LOVE inner dialogue. I know we’re reading a book, a story and we’re already in their heads and while it’s not that important to have in a book, I just feel like it’s takes you deeper into that person’s mindset. The book itself is the onion and the inner dialogue is like you AND the character are peeling back the layers together. Does that even make sense?! I hope so because in my happy land it does.
Pepper’s way with words and how she navigates through this story is seriously just, wow. How can one wrap the truth in lies or is it that this big lie is wrapped in the truth? See?! It’s mindblowing and I loved every second of this book and every emotion it pulled out of me with each chapter. I CANNOT wait to read more of her work and will patiently wait for the final installment to see just how truthful all of the deceit really is or is it the other way around? <—-Rhetorical BTW. *WINK*
If you’re going to do any one-clicking today, tomorrow, this weekend, it needs to be this book.
Blown away. Truly.
