Aut Banks is a brilliant bad boy with a chip on his shoulder.
Mrs. Macmillan is a substitute teacher way in over her head.
When they're forced to work together, the sexual tension is off the charts.
Will the teacher remain professional or will she be schooled in a lesson on sex by a filthy boy who barely fits in his desk?
***Schooled by a Senior is a hot novella that was created originally for an anthology therefore it had to meet certain size requirements. It is all kinds of smokin’ instalove that’ll have you fanning yourself until the very end. Please take a seat and open your book…Class is now in session.
Who doesn’t like a little forbidden romance, am I right? In Schooled by a Senior, we get just that: senior in high school, Aut is charming, a leader and knows what he wants when he sees it. However what he decided he wants is Maise, his substitute teacher who also happens to be married.
Something different about this story as opposed to other student/teacher romances out there is that both of the main characters knew the entire time who the other was. It was known that Aut is a student, that he’s 18. That’s kind of refreshing after all the stories I’ve read where it was a big misunderstanding, assumptions were made, a hidden identity, etc. It was interesting to see how the relationship progressed when knowing from the beginning just how off limits they were to each other.
“Her lashes flutter at me as she tries to turn her shy gaze away from me. But like a deer caught in a pair of headlights, she can’t look away. Mrs. Macmillan wants me to crash into her. Problem is, I’m a force to be reckoned with. A woman like her doesn’t stand a chance. I will devour and decimate every silky inch of her tight body.
If she gives me an inch, I’m going to take that motherfucking mile.”
Aut was an interesting character. He was demanding, brazen and had a take no prisoners type of attitude. You’re lead to believe that he’s an alpha male but I’m wondering how alpha an 18 year old can be? LOL. Is he actually or is it just considered being a jerk at this point? I understand that you don’t want him to appear as a child, but I just had to roll my eyes at how often Maise described how ‘man-like’ he was. Apparently, this high school student looked like and acted like a man, not a teenager. Do I believe it? Not really, but hey, to each their own. But like any good romance hero should, he’s got some great swoonworthy moments.
“This is all going to blow up on us, Author. What we’re doing is fun and crazy and hot as hell, but it’s going to blow up. Mark my words.”
Pressing a soft kiss to her lips, I smile. “Let it fucking blow. We’ll deal with the aftermath together.”
Maise is where I had some bigger issues in this novella. She just felt completely spineless and weak to me! She could never make a decision on her own, she had zero respect or confidence in herself and she just did whatever a man (whether it be her husband or the hero) told her to do. I like a heroine to stand up for herself when needed (and with the circumstances, I understand why this couldn’t happen at home), but she just completely shut down.
For what it is — a forbidden, smutty romance — this is super entertaining. I sat down one day after work and the next thing I knew, I was finishing the last chapter! It sucks you in and keeps you engaged while flipping through the lives of Aut and Maise. Predictable and slightly cheesy at times, yes, but entertaining nonetheless. Just don’t go in expecting insurmountable levels of depth and growth.
Even with my qualms about the heroine, this book does NOT lack in the steam department. Wow. Hot, indeed it is. And I looove dirty talkers so this was right up my alley. 😉
“I learned from the best.”
Nibbling at her ear lobe, I chuckle. “Class is always in session, Maze. I’ve got lots of things I’m going to teach you. Lots and lots of things. You were crying that life is over. But, beautiful…” I trail off and pull away to look at her heat-filled honey eyes.
“It’s just getting started.”
When I finished, I could help but start laughing. Everything is actually kind of ridiculous, I mean come on. The whole situation, the heroine, the age difference, her husband, their life connection and wanting to have all of the babies… It’s just a lot to digest all at once. But did I enjoy it? Yes, I did, don’t get me wrong. If you want something quick, fun and dirty, check this one out!!
