Bestseller, Vi Keeland, comes a sexy new standalone novel.
The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.
I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.
He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.
So I told him to mind his own damn business—his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business—and went back to my miserable date.
When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.
I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.
When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.
But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.
My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.
When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.
I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people? Then again…
What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?
This was an overall super sweet, funny and sexy read! It was definitely a refreshing spin on the typical rich, CEO, alpha boss/employee story we are used to reading. It totally had me hooked from the first word and I really, really enjoyed it. This is also my first book by Vi Keeland and I will definitely check out her other books.
In this super sweet story, Reese finds herself trying to get out of a bad date when she encounter hot and sexy Chase Parker. Chase helps her get out of that situation and she makes an impression on him. Reese is looking for a job and Chase helps her, one thing leads to another and Reese finds herself working for Chase. Reese has a very strict policy of no dating at work but Chase is determined to get her on his bed.
I loved Chase Parker, he definitely made the book, he was such an amazing character. He was hot but sweet, he was also super alpha and endearing but not in an over the top way. I loved the way he romanced Reese and the way he fought for her and protected her. He was hands down my favorite part of the book. Reese is also a strong heroine although at times I found it hard to connect with her and her attitude towards Chase. Regardless, I loved their dynamic, their banter and their conversations. The love scenes were also super hot. Also the writing and the pacing of the story were great.
“I want more with you. I can’t promise you what that is or where it will go, but it’s more than just physical. I’m attracted to everything about you – you’re smart, honest, funny, brave, a little nutty – and you make me smile for no reason. There’s no denying I want you in my bed. I think you’ve caught on to that part by now. But I want this, too. I’m tired of looking back. It’s been a long time since I’ve wanted to live in the moment.”
What I didn’t love was Chase’s backstory, but this is a personal preference of mine. Because of that, I was not a fan of the conflict and resolution in the story. And again, it’s just a personal preference so that shouldn’t deter you from reading this fantastic book.
I loved loved loved the Epilogue, it was brilliant. Like I said above, this is definitely a different and refreshing departure from the typical rich boss/employee story and I 100% recommend it!
“You have my heart. Promise me you’ll keep it safe.’
‘Only if you promise never to give mine back.”
