The Ultimate Anti-Hero Meets His Match…

Connor Dunkle knows what he wants in a woman, and it’s the three B’s. Beauty. Body. Boobs. Other women need not apply. With his good looks and easygoing charm, he’s used to getting what he wants—and who. Until he comes face to face with the one woman who’s slowly making his life hell...and enjoying every moment...

Ella Blake is a single mom and a professor at the local Verily college who’s climbed up the ranks the hard way. Her ten-year-old son is a constant challenge, and her students are driving her crazy—namely Connor Dunkle, who’s failing her class and trying to charm his way into a better grade. Fuming at his chauvinistic tendencies, Ella teaches him the ultimate lesson by giving him a special project to help his grade. When sparks fly, neither of them are ready to face their true feelings, but will love teach them the ultimate lesson of all?

I enjoyed this novella a lot! Actually, I was sad it was over so soon because I wanted more of these characters! Searching for Mine is a novella on the “Searching For” series released as part of the 1001 Dark Nights collection. This can totally be read as a standalone although this is a great overall series so I totally recommend it.

Connor Dunkle is the hero of this story and I loved him so much from page one. If you’ve read the previous books, Connor is introduced in Searching For Perfect as his brother Nate is the hero. If you haven’t, you are really not going to be lost, I promise. In the previous book, Connor appears one dimensional and a huge jerk, but there’s so much more to his story. Connor took in the responsibility of raising his young brother at a very young age, forfeiting his own future in favor of his brother’s. He works in construction, sometimes multiple jobs and he is finally pursuing a college degree at age 38 in order to get ahead in his company. But when it comes to love, he is very clueless. Connor has been hurt a lot in the past and has learned to rely on his good looks when it comes to the ladies.

Enter Ella, she is Connor’s college professor. She’s a divorced single mother who has also been burned by love before. Ella is very though in the classroom, especially with Connor. They don’t see eye to eye and she can’t help but think that he gets by on his looks.

It turns out that outside of school Connor and Ella are neighbors and that sets off a whole new set of possibilities. I definitely loved the story, it was funny and sexy. I loved Connor, he was precious. Behind the exterior and first impression he was such a wonderful man. Ella, I didn’t love as much. She was frustrating at times and a little judgmental about Connor. I do understand her resistance and love that she came around when she did. Overall, for a short novella this was great, it had everything. I hope we get more of these characters in the future. If you’re looking for a short and awesome read, this is the book for you!
