Rising star Zack Grantham has been stuck in a downward spiral of grief ever since the car accident that left him a single dad and put his career on hold. Back on the road with the Carolina Cold Fury and still crippled by emotional baggage, he’s in need of some serious help with his son. But while the nerdy new nanny wins his son’s heart, Zack isn’t sure he’s ready for a woman’s touch—even after getting a glimpse of the killer curves she’s hiding under those baggy clothes.
Kate Francis usually keeps men like Zack at a distance. Though his athlete’s body is honed to perfection, he refuses to move on with his life—and besides, he’s her boss. Still, the sparks between them are undeniable, tempting Kate to turn their professional relationship into a personal one. But before she makes a power play for Zack’s wounded heart, Kate will have to open him up again and show him that love is worth the fight.

Disclaimer: This book is part of a series, we recommend you read them in order because the previous book sets the stage for this one and this review might contain spoilers.

We first met Zack, in Alex’s book. I loved him and Gina together. Gina, was very sweet and welcoming to Sutton, so I liked her. Fast forward to Garrett’s book and we see more glimpses of Zack and Gina, being a happy and in love couple. And then… the unthinkable happens *gasps* Gina, was killed in a car accident and Zack, was driving.

I was devastated when this happened. I cried big ugly tears and cursed Sawyer, for doing this to them. When I started Zack’s book and I was in the prologue, I hated him! I hated the story, I hated the book… I was just upset. I didn’t want it to happen this way. I had to let go of that feeling to be able to enjoy the book. It took a little bit, but I got there and I was so happy with how it turned out.

Like I said above, I wanted to hate this. Most of all… I wanted to hate Kate. Before I started, I felt like she was going to step on our girls (Gina’s) toes and I just didn’t want it to be this way. I just wanted Gina back!!!! Then something amazing happened… I met Kate, for the first time right along with Zack, but unlike him, I immediately fell in love with her. From the first moments with her, she is sweet and funny. She immediately bonded with Ben. I loved that she respected Gina’s memory and kept her spirit alive.

Zack, bless his heart. He had to face a tragedy that left him grief stricken. My heart broke for him. Yes he was an ass at times, but I understood it. He had all of these conflicting emotions that he didn’t understand. I didn’t feel like he used Kate. He was upfront and honest and yes he crossed some boundaries, but you could see him falling for her. I felt it. He couldn’t see it… but my home girl Kate, and I did! I thought Kate was awesome through this whole book.

Precious little Ben. I loved this kid! He was so cute and for everything that he went through, he handled it really well. Also, his favorite children’s book, is my favorite children’s book!!!

There was one thing I didn’t buy… Zack’s reasonings for never marrying Gina. I seen them happy and in love in the other 2 books! Maybe it is believable and I just don’t want to believe it….

OMG Ryker!!! I am so excited for his book! I loved his introduction to the series in Zack’s book. I have power read Alex, Garrett, and Zack to prepare myself for Ryker…. specifically for him. See, goalies are my weakness and as soon as I found out that Ryker was a goalie…. let’s just say I might have freaked out a little (in a good way) lol.

Overall this book was great! I am honestly surprised I liked it as much as I did. Sawyer Bennett, has a way in her storytelling that makes you fall in love with a story or a person that you didn’t want to like, let alone love. She did it for me in Garrett and she did it again with Zack!
