Hockey star Alexander Crossman has a reputation as a cold-hearted player on and off the rink. Pushed into the sport by an alcoholic father, Alex isn't afraid to give fans the proverbial middle finger, relishing his role as the MVP they love to hate. Management, however, isn't so amused. Now Alex has a choice: fix his public image through community service or ride the bench. But Alex refuses to be molded into the Carolina Cold Fury poster boy . . . not even by a tempting redhead with killer curves.

As a social worker, Sutton Price is accustomed to difficult people--like Alex, who's been assigned to help her create a drug-abuse awareness program for at-risk youth as part of the team's effort to clean up his image. What she doesn't expect is the arrogant smirk from his perfect lips to stir her most heated fantasies. But Sutton isn't one to cross professional boundaries--and besides, Alex doesn't do relationships . . . or does he? The more she sees behind Alex's bad-boy facade, the more Sutton craves the man she uncovers."

Everyone has been telling me that I need to read Sawyer Bennett’s Cold Fury series. I am so glad that I have finally read Alex! This book has 3 awesome things in it…Hockey, a hot hockey player, and a strong heroine.

I won’t lie, it took me a while to get the feel of the book. Alex, is true to his nickname MVP (Most Valuable Prick). He is miserable. With himself, his career, and his family. As I continued to read this book though, my heart started thawing to him. When he wasn’t focused on hating everything, he could sweep you right off your feet, with his amazing words and sexyness! His growth in this book is amazing. Alex from page 1 and Alex from the last page are world’s apart and he has one person to think for that…the wonderful Sutton Price.

I loved Sutton, from her first introduction to the story. She has been through hell and back in her life, yet she has taken it as a learning experience and has chosen to look at the world in this beautiful light. She could sit at home and cry ‘woe is me’ but she doesn’t! She takes her experience and her truths and uses them to help others, especially children who have came from a similar background, that she had growing up. Her patience with people in general, but especially Alex, was beautiful. It didn’t matter how someone had hurt her or how they affected her, she always looked to understand where they were coming from. That is truly a beautiful quality to have. Her love for her brother was very nice to see. It made me jealous that I didn’t have a little brother Glenn to love. Overall Sutton is just an amazing character and I’m glad I got to know her.

We also get to see the hilarious in your face Garrett, in this book. He will be the H is the next book. I’m very excited to see the woman who captures his heart!

Overall this is an awesome book and the start to a series, that I am very excited to dive into!
