They don’t play for the same team. Or do they?
Jamie Canning has never been able to figure out how he lost his closest friend. Four years ago, his tattooed, wise-cracking, rule-breaking roommate cut him off without an explanation. So what if things got a little weird on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were eighteen? It was just a little drunken foolishness. Nobody died.
Ryan Wesley’s biggest regret is coaxing his very straight friend into a bet that pushed the boundaries of their relationship. Now, with their college teams set to face off at the national championship, he’ll finally get a chance to apologize. But all it takes is one look at his longtime crush, and the ache is stronger than ever.
Jamie has waited a long time for answers, but walks away with only more questions—can one night of sex ruin a friendship? If not, how about six more weeks of it? When Wesley turns up to coach alongside Jamie for one more hot summer at camp, Jamie has a few things to discover about his old friend...and a big one to learn about himself.
Warning: contains sexual situations, skinnydipping, shenanigans in an SUV and proof that coming out to your family on social media is a dicey proposition.
What happens when two of your favorite authors get together to write a book? They write the perfect book. And how can you write a review about the perfect book? You simply can’t. Words will fall short. HIM is everything I expected and so much more.
I love Sarina Bowen’s books. She is an amazing, talented writer with an amazing attention to detail. She makes you feel like you are inside the story, feeling along the characters. Sarina’s The Understatement of the Year is probably my favorite book this year, a solid 5 star. Then there’s Elle Kennedy. She is so talented and her books are so funny and witty and her character development is superb. The Deal is also in my Top 5 this year.
And so we have HIM. And what an awesome ride this is. I’m a sucker for hot boys. I’m a sucker for hockey players. I’m a bigger sucker for hot boys who are hockey players, especially when they are into each other!
This is Wes and Jamie’s story. Ryan “Wes” Wesley and Jamie Canning are two college elite hockey players. They met at hockey camp and had an amazing friendship that lasted for years until it ended on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were eighteen. Jamie still wonders why he lost his best friend and Wes is plagued by regret.
“I’ve always kept my memories of Canning to myself. Because they’re mine. For six weeks every summer, he was mine.”
Now four years later, they find themselves together again at camp, now as coaches. Wes is hot, fun and gay. Jamie is cool, beautiful and…straight? They each have tons to learn about each other and only weeks to make up for lost time. What happens after that is for you to discover since it is too awesome to spoil it. But needless to say, this is a beautiful love story with a happy ending. I loved both Jamie and Wes, and they were amazing together.
“Jamie is kissing me. Jamie is kissing me. Jamie is kissing me.”
The book is an easy read, once I started I couldn’t put it down. It’s also very low on the angst and scorching hot. It’s hard to tell it was co-written and it has the perfect balance between beautiful and funny. It truly brings all the feels. And I super recommend it!
“He doesn’t need skill—he just needs to be here. Him. Here. With me.”
“It’s like a cattle prod to the spine. Desire surges through me and spirals down to my balls, drawing them up tight. When his tongue touches mine I damn near keel over. I have to grab the front of his shirt and bunch it between my fingers to keep from being swept away by the storm. Not the storm that’s lighting up the sky, but the one that’s roaring inside me.”
“Loved you every summer since I was thirteen years old. Love you even more now.”
So, this book is perfect, pick it up, you won’t be disappointed ❤
