He’s a player in more ways than one…
College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.
Now he’s going to need to up his game…
After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.
I fricking loved this book. I was dying to get my hands on it after having read (and loved) The Deal, and I am so incredibly relieved that it lived up to all my uber high expectations.
You know when a book makes you laugh, and then go “awww” and then puts tears in your eyes and you start slow-mo reading because you don’t want it to end, except you can’t stop reading because you love it that much so you wake up at 4 in the morning to keep flipping the pages, so you’re pretty much effed up either way? This is that kind of book. At 1% I already loved it. 1 freaaaking % if that isn’t a new record, I don’t know what is. From that point on, I was pretty much all in and I DEVOURED the pages with this slightly scary grin plastered on my face.
God, I laughed so hard with this one. I think I even laughed more than with the Deal and we all know how epic that locker room “Penises everywhere” scene was. Well, this was just… ADORBS!! OH, so ADORBS. I wanted to hug this book and lick John Logan top to bottom and then snuggle between these two.
This may be NA but you know what, I feel like for the first time I really really love NA. Like it’s finally reached it’s potential with Elle Kennedy.
* Yummy hero (check)
* Adorable, worthy, babbling but endearing heroine (check)
* Witty banter between the two MCs (check)
* Witty, funny and douchey banter between the Hockey teammates (check) (I love those guys)
* Swoony moments when Logan relentlessly pursues Grace and tries to prove he’s not really a douchenozzle and turns out melting your heart with his adorable attempts at wooing (check)
* A realistic feeling family drama on Logan’s side that will totally pull at your heartstrings (check)
* Too many funny quotes to even mention here (check)
* Worth losing sleep over ( check)
* Will make you feel like you’re younger and back in college and totally living it up and feeling good about it (check)
I loved everything about this book and as I said somewhere before, I’d have babies with this series if I could. Oh, and a totally cool shout out to Drew Baylor from The Hook-up by Kristen Callihan, another NA winner, that totally made my freaking day.
And now that I’ve realized I’ve said “freaking” way too many times in this review, I’ll stop now, because honestly I’ll just keep gushing and I don’t want to turn you guys off. Just, give these books a try. They’re honestly so damn good. And you merciless vixen, Elle Kennedy, you… I’m DYING for Dean’s book now. He sounds like THE epitome of manwhore, which is already saying a lot when it comes to these guys. But what I love about these books is the lengths these strapping, cocky Hockey college gods go to, when they find that one girl they find worthy, and how they go from manslut to total devotion like that.
It’s just cracky stuff.
6 stars and to my favourite shelf it goes because this has now turned into my favourite NA series. There may have been a couple of instances that seemed a teensy bit too coincidental, but it’s all forgiven because the highs were so high the lows barely even registered.
Seriously, LOVED. 6++++++ glittering stars of goodness.
